Maria KeaneLucas Hernández from FC Bayern can imagine a return to Atlético Madrid. In conversation with El Partidazo de COPE stressed the Frenchman: “If the opportunity arises to return, why not?”
The 26-year-old continued: “It’s the club that gave me everything. And the fact that I’m here in Germany today, for example, has to do with the opportunities I was offered at Atlético.”
However, a move to the Spanish capital does not seem to be an option for Hernández at the moment. According to media reports, the central defender is facing a long-term contract extension with FC Bayern.
The current working paper runs until 2024, so the contract is to be extended by three years to 2027. The market value of the 2018 world champion is estimated at 50 million euros.
Hernández switched to the German record champions in the summer of 2019 for the record transfer fee of 80 million euros. The left-footed player had previously been with Atlético Madrid since 2007. There he went through numerous youth teams and made the leap to the professionals in 2015.
