Lucas Hernandez's advisor countered Lothar Matthäus

Lucas Hernandez’ advisor Manuel Garcia Quilon has countered Lothar Matthäus’ criticism of Bayern’s central defender.

Opposite to sports1 Quilon said: “Matthäus was a great player. I respect his opinion of Lucas, but I don’t share it. Lucas is without a doubt one of the best players in his position, for me one of the two or three best central defenders in the world. His performances are great! And Bayern Munich are very happy with him.”

That seems to be the case for coach Julian Nagelsmann, who ordered Hernandez into the starting eleven in all 19 Bundesliga games in which the Frenchman was in the squad. This obviously contributes to player satisfaction.

“Lucas is doing very well in Munich, he’s happy and gets along great with everyone – with the coach, with his teammates, but also with those in charge,” continued consultant Quilon.

Matthäus had recently been critical of Hernandez and said that he was “often too slow in duels” and “didn’t make the safest impression”. The price-performance ratio is also not right for a defender who costs 80 million euros.
