Manuel Neuer could extend this year

Manuel Neuer could extend his contract with Bayern Munich early this year. That reports Sport1.

According to the report, talks between the goalkeeper and the club management are already underway, and it is “not excluded” that an agreement will be reached by the end of the year.

Neuer’s current contract runs until 2023, should it be extended, then apparently for at least two more years. An extension beyond 2025 is also possible.

A possible new extension would also have consequences for Alexander Nübel, who is on loan to AS Monaco until 2023. Most recently he announced in an interview with the kickerthat he could only imagine returning to Munich if he got guaranteed stakes in a competition.

“What I can no longer imagine is coming back and not getting any more games,” said Nübel. However, Neuer would have to pause for this, which was out of the question for him in the end. Instead, he told the imagethat he has “no guidelines” as to when he wants to end his career: “I’m not saying that it’s over at 40.”

Nübels advisor Stefan Backs also had opposite Sport1 declares that he will think about something if Neuer should remain number one in the FCB goal in the long term. “If Manuel extends and is still inviolable in two years at the age of 37, then we will find a solution,” said Backs.

Since moving from Schalke 04 to Bayern in 2011, Neuer has been the undisputed number one in Munich and has been recognized as a world goalkeeper five times during this time.
