Markus Babbel on FC Bayern: "Best squad ever"

Markus Babbel raved about the FC Bayern squad, but at the same time criticized the way the team performed in some games. The 50-year-old also showed understanding for coach Julian Nagelsmann’s recent freak out.

“It’s hard for me to understand,” Babbel said sports buzzer When asked about the sometimes inconsistent performances of FC Bayern: “Because: This squad has an incredible quality, is also phenomenally positioned in terms of breadth. But they often don’t bring their best performance to the pitch. That makes you crazy as a coach at the sideline.”

Actually, according to the former German international, Munich should “shoot all opponents out of the stadium with this staff in the league”.

But this is not the case. The record champions have not left the field as winners nine times in the current Bundesliga season. After the 2-3 defeat at Borussia Mönchengladbach two weeks ago, Nagelsmann burst.

“That’s a joke, is he kidding me or what?” shouted the Bayern coach as he walked through the catacombs, meaning the team of referees. He then went into the referee’s cabin and came out again shortly afterwards. His reaction: “This softened pack!”

“He knows that he overshot the mark verbally,” said Babbel: “Of course he also feels the pressure when the results aren’t right – and with what I consider to be the best squad of all time.”

Babbel about PSG: “Underground”

After the 1-0 win at Paris Saint-Germain, the second leg of the Champions League in the Allianz Arena is on Wednesday. Babbel is still shaken by PSG’s performance in the first leg.

“How defensively PSG performed as a home team against Bayern was underground. Bayern dominated the game until Kylian Mbappé came on. Means: The second leg will be dangerous because PSG with Mbappé is able to turn things around. I am I’m relatively sure that Bayern will prevail and progress,” said the former Bayern professional.
