Matthias Sammer will remain a consultant until 2025

Matthias Sammer will remain with Borussia Dortmund as an external consultant for the long term. BVB extended the collaboration with its former player and coach until June 30, 2025.

“I am always very happy to be able to fall back on the expertise of Matthias Sammer in many subject areas, which by the way do not only include the professional area,” said Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke. Sammer has been an external advisor to Dortmund since 2018.

“We’re not done with our task yet, we have a lot planned for BVB. Now we’re going to do it,” explained Sammer. The new contract takes into account “at the request of both sides the corona pandemic and its immense economic impact on professional football,” said BVB.
