“Maximum 25 percent”: Bavaria limits spectator capacities

Maria KeanePrime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has decided on a “de facto lockdown for unvaccinated people” for Bavaria and will also tighten measures for sport due to the worsening corona situation.
For example, the utilization of stadiums and halls at sporting events such as the games of the German record champions Bayern Munich is to be limited to “a maximum of 25 percent”; the 2GPlus rule applies to spectators. Those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered must then also show a current negative corona test.
The measures should be decided on Tuesday in the state parliament and apply until December 15. In the case of the as yet unvaccinated Bayern professional Joshua Kimmich, Söder also spoke out in favor of the 2G model for professional footballers as well, which would “make sense,” he said.
A vaccination requirement for professional athletes is legally difficult to implement, said Söder, but it would be “a huge signal that there is an identity between fans and players. Because the fans in the stadium have to take on a lot. And the footballers are there for the fans. I know too that the leaders of the league and the clubs go to great lengths to achieve this. In the end, anyone who does not agree to go down this path is doing their club a disservice. “
With an upper limit of 25 percent occupancy, a maximum of just under 19,000 spectators would be allowed in the Bayern Munich arena.
