Maria KeaneSports director Michael Zorc has again criticized the players of Borussia Dortmund. The focus is once again on the question of mentality.
After the surprising cup defeat against St. Pauli, the 59-year-old found clear words about the performance of the Dortmund team. There are currently “few arguments against it” that BVB lacks the necessary mentality, like Zorc from the WAZ was quoted on Thursday.
“We got into the game much too late. After the first goal, you could have expected us to start catching up – instead, St. Pauli actually became more active during this phase,” explained the sporting director, who left at the end of the season.
The coaching staff, on the other hand, protected Zorc. In the run-up to the game, “all the necessary elements of the game were clearly pointed out, the way St. Pauli played, the space available, everything.” The players “obviously didn’t listen properly”.
Zorc followed suit on Friday. “I’m extremely disappointed. The team keeps making old mistakes, it’s unbelievable and can’t be explained. That was a bloodless performance,” he explained to the Ruhr news and added: “The frustration is very deep because we can’t compensate for the departure.”
On Saturday, BVB is out for reparations when Borussia make a guest appearance at TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. “We have to become more sustainable and constant, the topic has been with us for quite a while. Readiness is the key word,” demanded coach Marco Rose at the press conference before the game.
