Maria KeanePaul Wanner became the youngest FCB player in Champions League history in FC Bayern’s 4-2 win at Viktoria Pilsen.
At 16 years and 293 days, the midfielder replaced Mathys Tel (17 years, 139 days), who only became the youngest Bayern player in the history of the top league in mid-September in the 2-0 win against FC Barcelona.
“Paul is not a trained left-back, but he did well in training. I think he did well in the game today,” said coach Julian Nagelsmann DAZN.
The native Austrian, who plays for the DFB U18, came on for Dayot Upamecano in Pilsen in the 70th minute.
At 16 years and 15 days, Wanner had already become FC Bayern’s youngest Bundesliga player. Only Youssoufa Moukoko from Borussia Dortmund was younger (16 years, 1 day).
