Frenkie de Jong is traded again at FCB. The Barça star could well be up for grabs.

FC Bayern are interested in Frenkie de Jong from Spanish champions FC Barcelona in search of a central midfield reinforcement. That reports The Athletic. Accordingly, in addition to Declan Rice (West Ham United), who has been traded for days, the Dutchman is also a candidate at FCB.

According to the report, Bayern’s priority is to sign a new striker. As soon as that construction site is closed, the search for a new star for the headquarters will be “intensified”. However, a concrete effort for de Jong and Rice depends on this happening in line with the budget and other players being given away.

De Jong is not in Munich for the first time in conversation. He has already been traded as a newcomer several times, most recently last year. He is under contract in Barcelona until 2026. While De Jong is a regular under Xavi, his high salary and Barca’s financial difficulties could argue in favor of a sale next season.

De Jong comes from the youth of Willem II. In 2015 he switched to Ajax for the symbolic transfer fee of one euro. After a one-year loan back to a hometown club, the 26-year-old made the jump to Ajax’s senior squad in 2016. In 2019, de Jong moved to Barcelona for 86 million euros.

In the past season, the 50-time national player completed 43 competitive games for Barcelona. He scored two goals and provided four assists. At the World Cup in Qatar, he appeared in all five games for Elftal (one goal, one assist).
