RB coach Domenico Tedesco gives Leipzig “ten out of ten points”

Trainer Domenico Tedesco was enthusiastic about the RB Leipzig project when he was introduced. At the press conference on Thursday, the new coach was asked about his commitment to the young Leipzig club compared to his previous positions at the traditional clubs Erzgebirge Aue, Schalke 04 and Spartak Moscow.

When he took office in Moscow in 2019, he said that “the emotional aspect, the tradition, the solidarity” are part of “when I decide on a club.”

The 36-year-old now said: “These are things that I stand by because I told them that such stories are important to me.”

As a Schalke coach, however, he played in Leipzig and he now feels “that it is not unimportant for the people here in Leipzig whether Leipzig wins or loses a game”.

In addition, there are other factors for him in his decision to join a club. “How is a club structured? How is the squad? How are the structures? How innovative is a club? And I think that with a possible ten points, this club has ten points.”

In terms of his style of play, Tedesco admitted that there is an overlap with his predecessor Julian Nagelsmann, with whom he had once completed his football teacher training course.

“We know each other, have talked about football. Our views are already the same. Nevertheless, it is like this: I have my style and he has his,” said Tedesco: “It is important that the team knows that. I shut myself off not. Everything that is good, I want to soak up.
