RB Leipzig criticizes the Saxon state government for ghost games

RB Leipzig reacted to the renewed ghost games because of the rapidly increasing corona numbers in Saxony with criticism of politics.

“We have no understanding that the Saxon government even allowed this situation to come about,” the club wrote on its website on Saturday, “the highest infection rate of all federal states, along with the lowest vaccination rate, is evidence that politicians do in Saxony has not yet managed to implement viable concepts to effectively contain the pandemic. “

One will “accept and respect” the new legal situation, emphasized RB. The state government in Saxony decided on Friday, among other things, that no more spectators are allowed into the stadium for professional sport. The new regulation also affects the second division clubs Dynamo Dresden and Erzgebirge Aue.

With the new measures, which will initially apply until December 12, Saxony responded to the enormously increased infections in the Free State. According to the Robert Koch Institute, the seven-day incidence on Saturday was just under 800, which is the highest in Germany. At the same time, the vaccination rate for second vaccinations is the lowest nationwide at just under 58 percent.

Leipzig has to play in the Bundesliga against Bayer Leverkusen on November 28th and against Borussia Mönchengladbach on December 11th and in the Champions League against Manchester City on December 7th in front of empty ranks.

In Bavaria, affected by similarly high incidences, the state government had previously reduced the utilization of stadiums and halls at sporting events to a “maximum of 25 percent”. The measures should be decided on Tuesday in the state parliament and apply until December 15.
