RB Leipzig faced again with ghost games

RB Leipzig has to play ghost games again. The state government in Saxony decided on Friday, due to the rapidly increasing corona numbers, among other things, that no more spectators are allowed into the stadium for professional sports. That confirmed RB on SID-Inquiry.

The new regulation also affects the second division clubs Dynamo Dresden and Erzgebirge Aue. With the new measures, which will initially apply until December 12, Saxony is reacting to the enormously increased infections in the Free State.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, the seven-day incidence was last at just under 594, which is one of the highest in Germany. At the same time, the vaccination rate for second vaccinations is the lowest nationwide at just under 58 percent.

Leipzig has to play in the Bundesliga against Bayer Leverkusen on November 28th and against Borussia Mönchengladbach on December 11th and in the Champions League against Manchester City on December 7th in front of empty ranks.

In Bavaria, affected by similarly high incidences, the state government had previously reduced the utilization of stadiums and halls at sporting events to a “maximum of 25 percent”. The measures should be decided on Tuesday in the state parliament and apply until December 15.
