RB Leipzig: March probably before the end

RB Leipzig’s sports director Oliver Mintzlaff has announced consequences for the entire club after the embarrassing defeat against Union Berlin on Friday evening. Not only coach Jesse Marsch, but also all players now apparently have to dress warmly.

“The team had a duty, Jesse Marsch is at home and has Corona. This is not just a ‘coach’ discussion, but also a ‘team’ discussion,” Mintzlaff said DAZN. The RB chairman did not explain what that means in concrete terms, but he made it clear that head coach Marsch & Co. will have to deliver in the coming weeks.

According to Leipziger Volkszeitung Both Marsch and his assistant coach Achim Beierlorzer are likely to end. Marsch only took over the coaching job at the runner-up in the summer after Julian Nagelsmann switched to FC Bayern.

“We won’t bury our heads in the sand until Christmas and hope that the new year will be better. We have to think about it and then everything belongs on the table,” added Mintzlaff.

After the 2-1 draw at Union Berlin and thus zero points from the last three games, RB Leipzig are back in eighth place in the table – but their own claim is completely different: “We have a squad that is certainly among the three or four best in the Bundesliga counts. That is also our aim. ” The hoped-for fourth place in the Champions League is now occupied by Union Berlin with a five-point lead over the Saxons.

RB boss Mintzlaff: “We delivered a shitty game”

The RB boss found clear words for the team’s performance in Berlin. “We played a shitty game,” said Mintzlaff, visibly shaken: “We came here to make up for something and delivered a catastrophic performance. So I’m very disappointed.”

Next Tuesday, RBL will play against ManCity in the Champions League (6.45 p.m. in LIVETICKER) in a long-distance duel with Bruges for a place in the Europa League. Four days later, the European contender Mönchengladbach comes to Leipzig.
