RB Leipzig sign goalkeeper Örjan Nyland without a club after Gulacsi injury

DFB Cup winners RB Leipzig have reacted to the absence of Peter Gulacsi and signed the Norwegian goalkeeper Örjan Nyland. As the Bundesliga club announced on Sunday, the last Norwegian without a club will receive a contract until June 2023.

Most recently, the 32-year-old played for Reading FC in the English Championship, where his contract was not renewed after last season. At RB, Nyland is planned as a substitute keeper behind the new number one Janis Blaswich (31).

“I’m proud to be part of RB Leipzig,” said Nyland: “Of course I would have preferred different circumstances for my move.”

Gulacsi suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in his right knee in Wednesday’s Champions League game against Celtic Glasgow (3-1). The captain is expected to be absent from Leipzig for several months.
