RB Leipzig without Forsberg in the long term

RB Leipzig will have to do without playmaker Emil Forsberg in the long term. The Swede suffered a muscle injury near the hip joint in his left thigh in Saturday’s league game against Arminia Bielefeld (0-2).

As RB announced, downtime of at least eight weeks can be expected. Forsberg will therefore miss the runner-up in the first games of the second half of the season. Forsberg was substituted for Bielefeld in the seventh minute. The injury occurred without any adverse influence.

In the meantime, Leipzig and Marcelo Saracchi will go their separate ways. The runner-up reached an agreement with the 23-year-old left-back to terminate the contract by mutual agreement on December 31st. Saracchi switched to RB in the summer of 2018 and played a total of 27 games (1 goal) for the Saxons.

The national player of Uruguay was loaned out to the top Turkish club Galatasaray Istanbul for a year and a half from January 2020. In the summer he returned to Leipzig, but in preparation he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He is currently in advanced training.
