Maria KeaneA technical error led to the blatant wrong decision in the top game of the Bundesliga between Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund (1: 2).
“The check process was aborted too early,” said referee Sascha Stegemann Sport1 double pass. Video assistant Robert Kampka only “used the four standard cameras and unfortunately not any additional cameras, although the possibility would have been there,” says Stegemann.
The double pass every Sunday from 11 a.m. LIVE on Sport1.
Immediately after the final whistle, Stegemann admitted the mistake and announced a reappraisal. The main question will be why Kampka didn’t intervene when Karim Adeyemi pushed Jesper Lindström.
“The aim of me and my assistants is to solve the matter on the pitch. The facts of the case were examined in Cologne. They came to the conclusion that the decision was not wrong,” said Stegemann. In principle, it would be nice “if the man from Cologne could save the mistake”. But he himself knows “that the job in the basement is very difficult”.
Stegemann had a bad night. “The night was short and not particularly relaxed. This process goes through your head,” said the referee.
