Reinier's father complains about a lack of support

Even under coach Marco Rose, Reinier is mostly just bench press at Borussia Dortmund. This particularly upsets his father, who strikes a sweeping blow against BVB and accuses the club of playing the wrong game.

“You don’t understand it. He didn’t get any chances and fights against things that he doesn’t understand,” complained Reinier’s father, Mauro Brasilia, in an interview with the Spanish AS.

Instead of helping his son, BVB Reinier “did not prepare for important moments and did not support him. We never asked for a regular place, but always played minutes so that he could develop,” said Brasilia.

When he moved to Real Madrid in January 2020, BVB asked the 19-year-old, but at that time they had already agreed with the royal team. When the possibility of a loan to the black and yellow team arose, “we thought it would be a good place for a young player like him. But Borussia didn’t support Reinier. Without affection, it’s impossible.”

After his arrival in Dortmund, the offensive player was quickly made clear “that tactically and physically he is not on the same level as his teammates,” said Brasilia: “But now there are no excuses.”

BVB blocked Reinier’s loan termination

Due to the few missions, one would have finally thought about canceling the loan, but BVB apparently blocked this. Now the talented father accuses him of playing the wrong way. They wanted “Reinier to return to Spain, but Borussia didn’t want to end the loan last year and say they don’t want to do that now either. You don’t understand.”

In the past, Mauro Brasilia had already been angry about the way the Dortmunders deal with his son. Opposite to SPOX and GOAL he described the behavior of BVB a few weeks ago as “strange”.

In the current season, Reinier only has nine short appearances. His only game over the full distance was at the end of October in a 2-0 win in the DFB Cup against FC Ingolstadt.
