Maria KeaneDespite his move to FC Barcelona, Robert Lewandowski will be featured on this year’s FC Bayern Munich advent calendar.
On Munich’s 2022 Advent calendar, the striker and his championship trophy pose next to ex-colleague Thomas Müller. It is obviously not an error. In addition to Lewandowski, other former Bayern players are also shown, including Arjen Robben, Franck Ribéry, Xabi Alonso and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Two former coaching legends of the German record champions also make it onto this year’s calendar version. Together with the current coach Julian Nagelsmann, the two CL winners Hansi Flick and Jupp Heynckes hold up another championship trophy.
In recent years, Bayern had actually only shown players from the current first team on their advent calendar.
Lewandowski switched from Bayern to FC Barcelona in the past summer transfer window. The transfer to the Catalans was preceded by a mud fight with mutual recriminations. Ultimately, however, the three parties agreed on a change – the Pole switched to Barca for 45 million euros.
