Managing Director Rudi Völler of Bayer 04 Leverkusen expects 18-year-old Florian Wirtz to stay with the Werkself for a long time.
“Not only through the contractual situation, but also through the trust we have built in him and his family, we know that he will be in good hands here for a few more years,” said Völler image. “We want Florian to stay with us for a few more years. That is important for us and for the entire Bundesliga. And I think it’s his plan too.”
Wirtz’s contract in Leverkusen runs until 2026. However, with outstanding performances, he has already made himself interesting for larger clubs. In the current season, Wirtz recorded eight goals and eleven assists in 21 competitive games. “This development amazes me,” said Völler.
