Rummenigge raves about Chiesa and criticizes Juventus Turin

FC Bayern Munich’s former CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge raved about Federico Chiesa. He also criticized his club Juventus Turin.

“I can confirm that he’s a great player. Chiesa has always shown that, in the national team, at Juve and Fiorentina,” said the 66-year-old at the Italian broadcaster RTV38 and added: “He’s a player for FC Bayern.”

Rumors of the German record champions’ interest in Chiesa have existed for a long time. FCB coach Julian Nagelsmann is considered a big fan of the Italian. “He’s a great player because he embodies incredible vigor and dynamism. I’ve known him for a long time and find him outstanding because he’s so carefree, often dribbling and looking to graduate very quickly,” said Nagelsmann at the beginning of his tenure .

The Italian international and reigning European champion has been awarded to Juventus Turin by Florence since summer 2020, the old lady is reportedly obliged to purchase 40 million euros. This takes effect at the end of the season under certain conditions.

Nevertheless, there is increasing speculation that Chiesa is aiming for a change. A transfer to Munich seems unlikely given the high transfer fee that Bayern would have to put on the table for the 24-year-old. This would probably amount to at least 70 million euros.

Rummenigge: Juve? “Couldn’t sleep at night”

Rummenigge also commented on the old lady’s financial difficulties. “I couldn’t sleep at night if I owed Juventus Turin,” he said, adding: “The Italian and Spanish clubs wanted to close the gap to the English clubs, which had a big advantage with the income from television rights. Barcelona is visible to everyone, but Juventus’ last record also puzzled me “.

In addition, Rummenigge reiterated his stance on the Super League, in which the Turinese want to continue to participate. The competition “would make football an American sport and that would not fit European culture,” he said.
