SC Freiburg - SPOX voting: Where will the SCF land under Christian Streich at the end of the Bundesliga season?

Next to Liverpool FC, SC Freiburg is the only team in Europe’s top 5 leagues that has not yet lost a competitive game in the season. Before the top game at FC Bayern on Saturday, the question arises: Is the SCF really serious now and will it even move into the Champions League in the end? Or is there a risk of a total crash after the possible first bankruptcy in Munich? You are asked!

Christian Streich was looking forward to the top game at Bayern on Friday. It may be questioned what the Freiburg coach is actually looking forward to. Because almost always when Streich (and his few predecessors on the Freiburger Bank) went to Munich in the Bundesliga with his brave Freiburgers, there was little to gain in the Bavarian capital. 17 defeats are compared to three draws and exactly zero wins.

And yet Streich was aggressive, although it is against “his” FC Bayern, after all, he used to be an ardent supporter of the current record champions. “I’ve been in football for 50 years now, and Bavaria has always been the measure of all things,” he said, whom Uli Hoeneß once even wanted to bring to FCB as a coach. “Those were our absolute heroes: Gerd Müller, Franz Beckenbauer, Sepp Maier, Bulle Roth. Bayern Munich has been there all my life,” Streich enthused.

But now it is about fighting Bayern – and that is something “wonderful”: “We want to stand up to them. Even if they are perhaps only half their size,” Streich concluded.

The game against the industry leader may come at the best possible time for the sports club, which is still unbeaten and cannot be pushed from third place even in the event of a defeat. But the question is: where does the sports club end up at the end of the season? Will there be a crash or is Freiburg “for real” and storming into international business?
