Stefan Kießling describes FC Bayern's dominance as "cruel"

Ex-Leverkusen and national striker Stefan Kießling described the dominance of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga as “cruel”.

“It’s true that my daughter has never seen a champion other than Bayern. They are simply further than we are, but that’s not just our problem. Nobody can get to Bayern at the moment. It’s cruel for the league, but me fear that it will stay that way for the time being, “said Kießling in an interview with the Sports buzzer.

In addition, in weak phases of the FCB in the past few years, the competition was not there. “Even if Bayern really weakened, the opportunity was not used, at least in the past few years, but the others actually stumbled themselves,” explained Kießling.

The fact that FC Bayern is so dominant is also thanks to Robert Lewandowski, whom Kießling faced back in the BVB era. “I still remember well: When I was top scorer in 2013 with 25 goals, Robert Lewandowski was second with 24 goals. He was just in his third season at Borussia Dortmund. So he has always been very good, but today’s Lewandowski is another house number, “said Kießling.

Lewandowski could achieve the 41 goals from last season again. “That is sensational and I trust him to have such a quota again,” he said. Kießling played for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga for twelve years before ending his career in 2018. In a total of 444 games for the Werkself, he snapped 162 times and prepared 75 more goals.
