Maria KeaneBundesliga club Union Berlin loses its top scorer Taiwo Awoniyi. After two years in Köpenick, the 24-year-old Nigerian is moving to newly promoted Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, where he has been given a five-year contract.
Nottingham described the move as a club-internal record transfer, but did not give any figures.
“It was clear that a player like Taiwo would draw the attention of other clubs with his performances. He is a great loss for our team, both in terms of sport and as a person, which we now have to absorb,” said Union managing director Oliver Ruhnert.
Overall, Awoniyi appeared in 65 competitive games for the Irons, recording 25 goals and nine assists.
