Maria KeaneThomas Müller from Bayern Munich called his goal in the Champions League final against Chelsea in 2012 as the favorite goal of his career.
“That wasn’t so nice, but very important at the moment,” said Müller, explaining his choice in a question and answer session on his Youtube-Channel.
In the “home final” against the Blues, Müller had put Bayern in the lead with a header in the 83rd minute. But Didier Drogba equalized for Chelsea in the 88th minute. The vastly superior Bayern were finally defeated in a dramatic way 4: 5 on penalties.
“In the end it was a sad evening for us, but the moment was very special and the explosion and emotion in the Allianz Arena were unbelievable,” said Müller.
In Bayern’s 3-0 win against FC Barcelona on Wednesday, Müller scored his 50th Champions League goal of his career.
