The TV station RTL+ has announced a series about FC Bayern Munich called “Good Friends”. The six episodes are scheduled to be broadcast in 2023, an exact date has not yet been set.
The series will premiere at the Munich Film Festival at the end of June.
“In the summer of 1965, FC Bayern Munich managed to get promoted to the Bundesliga. Five up-and-coming footballers, who are still inextricably linked to the club and German football today, played a major role in this: Gerd Müller, Sepp Maier, Franz Beckenbauer, Paul Breitner and Uli Hoeneß.
“In addition to personal life stories, the series highlight tells of a team between 1965 and 1974 that came out of nowhere and fought to become one of the best football teams of all time,” says the broadcaster.
In contrast to “FC Bayern – Behind the Legend” by Amazon Prime Video from 2021, “Good Friends” is not a documentary, but a TV drama in which the footballers are played by actors.
The title is based on the song “No one can separate good friends” sung by Franz Beckenbauer.
