Maria KeaneVfB Stuttgart has apparently found the coach of their dreams. According to various media, the Swabians are facing a commitment from the Dane Jess Thorup. The 52-year-old was released from Champions League participants FC Copenhagen in mid-September.
Thorup was previously on the bench in Belgium in Gent and Genk. In his homeland he also worked for Esbjerg, Midtjylland and the U20 and U21 national teams. As a coach, he won the Danish championship twice and the cup once. As a professional, he worked for KFC Uerdingen for two years (1996 to 1998).
Photos in Danish media show Thorup arriving in Stuttgart. There, those responsible for the 4-1 win against VfL Bochum had announced talks with two candidates about the successor to the dismissed Pellegrino Matarazzo. “We need a coach who can develop, but above all who gets the team ready to win,” said sports director Sven Mislintat about the requirement profile.
