VfB Stuttgart writes losses

The future of Sven Mislintat at VfB Stuttgart is apparently more and more uncertain. The background is the increasing discrepancies in the management floor in the currently sluggish search for a trainer. That reports sky.

Accordingly, the relationship between VfB CEO Alexander Wehrle and sports director Mislintat should be massively disturbed. The planned extension of the contract with Mislintat beyond 2023 therefore seems more than questionable.

In addition, according to the report, talks have already been held with a potential successor if there is no contract extension with Mislintat. Noisy sky Horst Heldt is regarded as Wehrle’s preferred candidate.

Both worked together at 1. FC Köln from 2019 to 2021. The 52-year-old Heldt also has a VfB past: As a player, he wore the shirt with the red chest ring from 2003 to 2006 and then became sports director for the Swabians, with whom he celebrated winning the German championship in 2007. In 2009, Heldt rose to the position of sports director, but only a year later he switched to FC Schalke 04.

According to media reports, the Stuttgart team recently received various rejections when looking for a successor for Pellegrino Matarazzo, who was released earlier this week. Domenico Tedesco, Zsolt Löw and Sebastian Hoeneß are said to have waved them off – the latter loudly sky because of the “coordination problems in the management floor”. Dino Toppmöller, who was also contacted, prefers to remain Julian Nagelsmann’s assistant in Munich.
