Various media have already named several candidates as successors to Matarazzo. He had to vacate his post, which he had held for more than 1000 days, after just five points from nine games.
“After an in-depth analysis of last season, when, as we know, we were only able to secure relegation at the last minute, we started the new season with high hopes. Unfortunately, the results so far have not lived up to these hopes. We have now reached a point where where we are convinced that the separation from Rino is inevitable,” explained sports director Sven Mislintat of the American-born.
Most recently, Thomas Tuchel’s ex-assistant coach, Zsolt Löw, was considered the most promising candidate to succeed Matarazzo. Of the table football In addition to the Hungarian, Adi Hütter and Sebastian Hoeneß were also mentioned as possible alternatives.
Also under discussion are the recently dismissed ex-Bundesliga coaches Gerardo Seoane and Domenico Tedesco as well as Peter Bosz, who was released after a false start to the season at Olympique Lyon.
