"You will see a new Sabitzer"

After Karl-Heinz Rummenigge criticized Marcel Sabitzer, the Austrian’s advisor, Roger Wittmann, spoke up and put the ex-Bayern boss’s statements into perspective.

Sabitzer must first really “arrive” at FC Bayern, Wittmann explained Sky sports. His protégé finally came to the German record champions late in the summer and therefore had little time to get used to it: “The first six months are over now, he couldn’t do any preparation in Bavaria. That was all on the last day.”

Wittmann is certain that “we will see a new Sabitzer” in the second half of the season. Nevertheless, he can also understand the criticism of the Austrian. “I believe that if you judge and see his performance in Leipzig, Bayern Munich today, then I do believe that he has a lot, a lot of room for improvement,” said Wittmann.

Previously, the former CEO of Munich, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, had criticized Sabitzer’s previous achievements on the Isar. The Austrian was a “luxury transfer” and he “didn’t improve the squad the way you might have imagined”.

Sabitzer switched from RB Leipzig to Bayern on the last day of the 2021 summer transfer window for 15 million euros. While he was one of the formative players in Saxony, his record in Munich has been poor so far. He made 18 appearances 21/22, mostly as a substitute. Sabitzer has not yet recorded any goal participation.
