Champions League winners Chelsea FC have temporarily extended their lead in the English Premier League. At the start of the twelfth matchday, team manager Thomas Tuchel’s team won 3-0 (2-0) at Leicester City. With 29 points, the Blues have at least six points ahead of pursuers Manchester City and West Ham United by the afternoon.
The German international Antonio Rüdiger headed Chelsea into the lead (14th), the French world champion N’Golo Kante followed up with a remarkable flick (28th). The substitute ex-Dortmund Christian Pulisic got the final score (71st). The leaders remain undefeated away from home and have won five of their last six league games. Leicester remains in the middle of the table with 15 points due to the defeat.
In the new edition of the FA Cup final, which Leicester won 1-0 in May, Kai Havertz had a second national player in the starting line-up. Timo Werner first took a seat on the bench. Chelsea dominated the game from the start, there was far too little offensively from Europa League participants Leicester, the guests missed some promising opportunities for an even bigger win.
