Arsenal FC apparently with world record offer for European champion Alessia Russo

The English European champion Alessia Russo (23) could apparently ensure a world record transfer in women’s football.

According to media reports, Arsenal from the Women’s Super League are said to have offered more than 400,000 pounds (456,000 euros) for the attacker from league rivals Manchester United – this is the sum FC Barcelona paid Manchester City last September for Russo’s national team-mate Keira Walsh.

Russo’s contract expires this summer, the previous negotiations with Man United about an extension had failed. The transfer window also closes in England on Tuesday. Russo scored four tournament goals for the Lionesses on their way to triumphing at the home European Championship last summer.

In the English championship, Manchester United leads the table after eleven games with 28 points, level on points with Chelsea, Arsenal (25) in third place still have a game to play.
