Arsenal star Aubameyang tested positive for coronavirus ahead of Africa Cup of Nations

The former Dortmund-based Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has tested positive for the corona virus. This was reported by the French news agency AFP on Thursday.

In addition to Aubameyang, his national team colleague Mario Lemina (OGC Nice) also tested positive. The Gabonese team is currently preparing for the Africa Cup in Cameroon.

Arsenal star Aubameyang, Lemina and assistant coach Yala Anicet tested positive in an antigen test on Thursday morning. “They did a PCR test and are currently isolated in their hotel,” Gabonese national coach Patrice Neveu told AFP. The infected had “no symptoms”. The result of a confirmatory PCR test is still pending.

Aubameyang is apparently facing the end of the Gunners. Last reported Sky Sportsthat the attacker may leave Arsenal. At the beginning of December, Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta suspended the former Dortmund player for a “violation of discipline” for the game against Southampton FC. Apparently, the star striker skipped a training session on Friday. A little later the club announced: “Aubameyang is no longer our captain.”
