Arsenal star Gabriel chases away robbers with baseball bats

Arsenal defender Gabriel successfully defended himself against two robbers who tried to attack him in front of his house. The Brazilian wasn’t intimidated by the duo’s baseball bat that he had brought with him.

The incident occurred in August, but the images from the surveillance camera have only now been released. The perpetrators have now been caught, and the robber with the baseball bat who was prevented from doing so has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Late in the evening, Gabriel returned home with his Arsenal teammate Nuno Tavares, where the duo met him in the garage. Gabriel first lifted his hands soothingly and took off his watch before he punched one of the robbers when he tried to hit with the baseball bat.

Thereupon the robbers fled, but in the hasty departure one of the two lost his cap. With the DNA material adhering there, he could finally be identified. “Gabi showed character. He reacted immediately. Great praise to him,” said Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta at a press conference after he had also seen the pictures.
