Cristiano Ronaldo takes on Wayne Rooney and raves about Lionel Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo hit Wayne Rooney again in the second part of his interview with Piers Morgan. On the other hand, he raved about Lionel Messi.

“More money in the bank or more Instagram followers?” Morgan asked the Manchester United striker. Ronaldo replied with a laugh: “That’s a good question! Probably similar!” The reporter added, “I’m just trying to figure out how Wayne Rooney could hate you more!”

Ronaldo didn’t have to be asked twice and again criticized his former team-mate. “Not only him, imagine, the rest of the rats will criticize me too, but it’s good to still be number one.”

Already in the first part of the interview he didn’t say any kind words about the Englishman. “I don’t know why he criticizes me so badly…probably because he retired and I’m still playing at a high level,” Ronaldo said.

Rooney had repeatedly criticized Ronaldo in the past for complaining about his wildcard role at the Red Devils. “I just think that the things he’s been doing since the start of the season aren’t acceptable for Manchester United,” explained the current manager talkSPORT.

Ronaldo also commented on his Ballon d’Or rival Lionel Messi. The Argentine is “magical,” he gushed: “He’s a guy I really respect, the way he always talks about me. Even his wife or my wife, my girlfriend, always respect him and they’re from Argentina. What I want to say about Messi? A good guy who will do anything for football.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldo thinks he has good chances with Portugal for the World Cup in Qatar: “I’m very optimistic. We have a fantastic coach, we have a good generation of footballers. I’m looking forward to a great World Cup.” When asked what he would do if he won the World Cup, he replied: “Resign, 100 percent.”
