Maria KeaneChelsea international Reece James will probably miss the World Cup in Qatar (November 20 to December 18) with a knee injury. The defender picked up the injury in Tuesday’s 2-0 Champions League win over AC Milan.
As the Premier League club announced late on Saturday evening, the 22-year-old will be out for around eight weeks.
James was injured in the Champions League win in Milan, when the Blues beat AC 2-0 to take a big step towards the Round of 16.
The player himself didn’t want to give up his dream of taking part in the Winter World Cup and is hoping for a comeback after around six weeks.
Either way, national team manager Gareth Southgate will have to decide how much to consider James in his plans. Should James be fit again after around six weeks, he could step in again in a potential knockout phase.
