Even without veteran Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United have reached the round of 16 of the English League Cup.
The Red Devils won 4-2 (0-0) against league rivals Aston Villa on Thursday after a turbulent second half. Superstar Ronaldo missed the game due to illness, and according to team manager Erik ten Hag, a match against Fulham FC on Sunday (5.30 p.m.) is still open.
The guests’ lead by Ollie Watkins (48′) was equalized by Anthony Martial in return (49′). An own goal from Diogo Dalot (61′) put the hosts back behind before Marcus Rashford (67′), Bruno Fernandes (78′) and Scott McTominay (90’+1) turned the game around in United’s favour.
