Premier League, Matchday 8: Matches and missed matches

But the 8th matchday didn’t go entirely smoothly either. Three of the ten planned games will not be played. These are: Brighton & Hove Albion vs Crystal Palace, Manchester United vs Leeds United and Chelsea FC vs Liverpool FC. Those three games have been postponed “due to events surrounding the Queen’s funeral,” the league said. The state funeral will take place on Monday.

Nonetheless, football fans can continue to look forward to plenty of Premier League football. Matchday kicks off at 9pm this Friday 16 September with Aston Villa vs Southampton FC and Nottingham Forest vs Fulham. In addition, Manchester City, the reigning champions, will be in action against Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow. There will be three games on Saturday and two games on Sunday.
