Gündogan hits! City stays with Chelsea

Defending champion Manchester City remains on the heels of Chelsea in the English Premier League thanks to Ilkay Gündogan. The national soccer player scored the opening goal in a 2-1 (1-0) win against West Ham United (33rd). Fernandinho (90th) followed suit, the guests shortened by Manuel Lanzini (90th + 4).

City initially drew level with Chelsea with 29 points. The Champions League winner will meet record champions Manchester United on Sunday evening.

Liverpool FC (28) with team manager Jürgen Klopp stays on the lead duo. The Reds already prevailed on Saturday at Anfield Road 4-0 (3-0) against FC Southampton with coach Ralph Hasenhüttl. The Portuguese Diogo Jota (2nd, 32nd), the Ex-Munich Thiago (37th) and Virgil van Dijk (52nd) met.

Arsenal FC had previously made up further ground. The Gunners prevailed against bottom of the table Newcastle United 2-0 (0-0). It was the fourth win in the last five games. Bukayo Saka (56th) and Gabriel Martinelli (66th) scored for the Londoners, where national goalkeeper Bernd Leno was again only on the bench. Arsenal have 23 points.

The game between Burnley FC and Tottenham Hotspur had to be canceled at short notice on Sunday due to heavy snowfall. “The game cannot be played safely due to problems with the field of play,” the hosts tweeted after both teams had published their line-ups.
