Gundogan has left his future open after winning the FA Cup final with Manchester City.

Ilkay Gündogan’s contract with Manchester City expires at the end of the season. He scored both goals in the Skyblues’ FA Cup success to make it 2-1 over Manchester United and then left it open how things will continue for him.

“Nothing has been decided yet, we’ll see what happens,” said Gündogan after his strong performance against his city rivals BBC Sports.

However, Gündogan emphasized: “I don’t need these days to feel accepted and special at this club.” He hinted that he was faced with a fundamental decision, especially since Barcelona is considered the international’s childhood dream.

Coach Pep Guardiola, however, wants to keep Gündogan: “We are neighbors, he is a close friend of mine.” Guardiola also stated: “Txiki (Begiristain, ManCity sporting director, editor’s note) is working on it, I hope he’s successful.”

The question of how Gündogan (32) will continue has been raised for a long time. According to rumours, PL rivals Arsenal are as close to Gündogan as FC Barcelona.

recently had Sports even reported that a move to Barça was a done deal and that Barcelona had even offered him a three-year contract. There was talk that the change should be announced after the Champions League final next Saturday. But apparently Gündogan himself has not yet decided.

Ilkay Gündogan: Decision only after the international matches?

Gündogan has been playing for Manchester City since 2016, when he came to the Skyblues from BVB for 27 million euros. Since then he has played 303 games for City and has scored 60 goals and provided 40 assists.

In the current season Gündogan, who is now captain of the team, made 31 PL games and scored 8 goals (5 assists).

Ilkay Gündogan will contest the Champions League final with Manchester City against Inter Milan (9 p.m. live on DAZN) next Saturday and then decide on his future.

It is quite possible that his future decision will not be made until the end of June, after all he will initially play three international matches with the DFB team against Ukraine, Poland and Colombia (June 12th to 20th).
