Team manager Jürgen Klopp is getting deeper and deeper into the crisis with Liverpool – and Erling Haaland is already waiting.
The gray full beard concealed Jürgen Klopp’s hanging corners of his mouth a bit, but the pinched facial expression spoke volumes.
“It was a really tough afternoon,” admitted the Liverpool team manager frankly after the 2-3 (1-2) draw at Arsenal: “Our situation is obviously quite difficult now.”
In fact, the 19-time English football champion slipped even deeper into the crisis after losing at the top of the Premier League. After ten match days, the Reds are tenth in the table with just two wins and ten points. Arsenal (24 points) and Manchester City (23) are miles away.
“We shouldn’t look at the table. We know anyway that we’re not at the top,” Klopp commented on the depressing placement, which is not worthy of the runner-up, FA Cup winner and finalist in the Champions League: “We have to collect ourselves – And that’s what we’re going to do. To work our way up with wins – that would be a very good idea.”

But although Klopp has apparently not lost his sense of humor completely, does not want to waste any thoughts on resigning and is probably still sitting securely in the saddle, the next setbacks are already threatening.
First Liverpool have to prove themselves in the premier class game on Wednesday at Glasgow Rangers, then on Sunday the Citizens come to Anfield with goal machine Erling Haaland.
Klopp also finds the program steep. “Are these the opponents to gain new self-confidence in our situation? Probably not,” said the 55-year-old, who nevertheless showed himself to be combative: “Am I worried? Of course I’m not happy. How could I? But we’re going to keep going. We’re going to go out there and give it our all. We have to do it – and we will do it.”
Klopp makes promises to the fans
Klopp (“We don’t feel like joking”) promised the fans that they were “working on solutions”: “We’re in an awkward position, but we want to get out of it together.”
First of all, the Reds have to see that they come out of the Arsenal game without a suspension. The “pack formation” after the penalty decision against Liverpool could have consequences.
