Jurgen Klopp pays tribute to Liverpool "legend" Mane

Jürgen Klopp reacted with great regret to the move from top striker Sadio Mane from Liverpool FC to German record champions FC Bayern Munich. “I will miss you,” said Klopp, paying tribute to the 30-year-old Senegalese as a “legend” and “icon” of the Reds.

Mane signed a three-year contract with Bayern on Wednesday after six years at Liverpool, who will pay up to 41 million euros for their royal transfer. “This is an important moment. To say otherwise would be pointless,” said Klopp, one of the greatest players in the club’s history is leaving the club, but “with our gratitude and love”. Mane goes as “one of the best footballers in the world”.

Despite his age, Klopp does not see Mane at the end of his development. The striker is a role model of professionalism and dedication “for every player”: “His star will continue to rise, I have no doubt about that.” Despite the bitter farewell, the coach is certain: “If you love the LFC, you have to love Sadio – that’s not negotiable!”
