Kai Havertz injures his finger in Chelsea win: "It looked terrible"

Kai Havertz injured his finger when Chelsea FC won the Carabao Cup against Tottenham Hotspur. Coach Thomas Tuchel then spoke about the ailing Cesar Azpilicueta.

“Kai has a problem with one finger. I think he broke it, it looked terrible. He played despite the pain that grew with every movement or duel,” said Tuchel after the 2-0 win – The Blues won the semifinals against the Spurs.

Havertz had put Chelsea in the lead in the fifth minute. With his goal, the national player apparently sustained an injury to the little finger of his right hand. The pictures showed how the finger was in an unnatural position. Havertz initially continued to play with an association.

“He held out until half-time, then we had to replace him,” explained Tuchel. An exact diagnosis of the severity of the injury was not yet available.

Tuchel also commented on the replacement of Cesar Azpilicueta shortly before the end. “It was just a cramp and not an injury. That would be good news, we trust him here. Hopefully it’s just a cramp,” said the Chelsea coach.
