The Gunners at FC Southampton, led by former Bundesliga coach Ralph Hasenhüttl, did not get more than 1-1 (1-0) despite an early lead and are now two points ahead of the Citizens, who played against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday ( 3:1).
Ex-Gladbacher Granit Xhaka scored for Arsenal in the eleventh minute, Stuart Armstrong (65th) equalized for Southampton. The Saints, who were without injured Germany international Armel Bella-Kotchap, move up to 15th place for the time being.
National player Robin Koch slipped down to a relegation zone with Leeds United. Leeds lost 2-3 (1-1) against Fulham FC with Koch’s DFB colleague Bernd Leno in goal at home on Elland Road. After the fourth bankruptcy in a row and only two points from the last eight games, the air for team manager Jesse Marsch, previously at RB Leipzig, is getting thinner.
