League Cup: Liverpool trembles into the semifinals

Maria KeaneLiverpool FC moved into the semi-finals of the League Cup after a chase and a penalty thriller. Jürgen Klopp’s team won in the round of the last eight against Leicester City 5: 4 on penalties, after 90 minutes it was 3: 3, at break 1: 3. Chelsea FC prevailed 2-0 (0-0) at Brentford FC.
Diogo Jota converted the decisive penalty for Liverpool, while substitute goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher saved two shots. Previously, Takumi Minamino had equalized for the Klopp-Elf in the fifth minute of stoppage time, the other goals were scored by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (33rd) and Jota (68th). Jamie Vardy (9th / 13th) and James Maddison (33rd) were successful for Leicester.
Due to the tight schedule around Christmas, Klopp spared many of his top stars. Among other things, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were not in the squad. Defense chief Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones dropped out because of a corona infection. Leicester, however, offered its top performers.
Chelsea and Spurs also win
