Arteta had been furious about a boarding by Sadio Mane against Takehiro Tomiyasu. According to the Spaniard, the Reds attacker would have caught the Japanese right-back with his elbow.
This upset Klopp so much that he left his coaching zone and yelled at Arteta. The Arsenal coach did not put up with the verbal attack and approached Klopp, which is why the fighters briefly stood head to head.
The two coaches eventually had to be separated from each other by their respective staff and fourth official Andy Madley.
A short time later, Klopp was allowed to cheer Mane’s opening goal (39th). The other goals were scored by Diogo Jota (52nd), Mohamed Salah (73rd) and Takumi Minamino (77th).
