Maria KeaneTeam manager Jürgen Klopp from Liverpool FC welcomes the planned return of the standing room to the English football stadiums.
“I like the idea. I am sure that people will use it responsibly,” said Klopp at his matchday press conference on Friday.
“The stadiums have changed completely compared to the times when very, very sad things happened,” said Klopp, explaining his attitude.
Therefore “the right moment” has come for changes. He also likes the thought of Liverpool’s home at Anfield Road with standing fans, “although I would be very surprised if the atmosphere was even better”.
The plans stipulate that interested clubs can apply for a test phase by October 6, which is planned for the first half of 2022. The Sports Grounds Safety Authority, a government advisory board, is to closely monitor the project and evaluate it with open-ended results after six months.
