Pep Guardiola has assured that Manchester City will sign a new striker. The team manager only left the timing open.
When asked about a replacement for Sergio Agüero, who migrated in the summer, Guardiola said Daily Mail: “I would say Sergio was not replaced because we didn’t buy a striker. Sooner or later this club has to do that. One day it will happen.”
“When it wasn’t possible at the beginning of the season, I said: ‘Okay, I’m more than happy with the players we have. I will be able to live with them, no problem,'” said the Catalan.
Guardiola also addressed the strengths and weaknesses of his team. “If you look at our players individually – Bernardo (Silva), Gündogan, Kevin (De Bruyne), Raz (Raheem Sterling), Riyad (Mahrez), even Joao (Cancelo), Oleks (Oleksandr Zinchenko) – they are not good defenders” , he said.
His plan: “We have to let the ball run and play with the ball. We can’t attack as fast as Liverpool, who can do it masterfully. We have to be patient, and that doesn’t mean we’re lazy or slow. We can do it It’s not about whether we defend low or press high. It’s all about the ball, nothing else. “
