ManCity is in the FA Cup final - and continues to dream of the triple

The English champions Manchester City are in the final of the FA Cup and can continue to dream of the first treble in the club’s history. Three days after the quarter-final second leg at FC Bayern (1-1) in the Champions League, national player Ilkay Gündogan’s team fulfilled their duty in the cup and defeated outsiders Sheffield United 3-0 (1-0) in the semi-finals.

Not Erling Haaland, but midfielder Riyad Mahrez scored all three goals for the favorites in London’s Wembley Stadium with a penalty kick, a nice solo run and direct acceptance (41st/61st/66th) for the former Bundesliga professional Stefan Ortega . City’s opponent for the final on June 3 will be determined on Sunday (5.30 p.m. / DAZN) between Brighton & Hove Albion and city rivals United.

“We’ll only start talking about the treble when we’ve won the Premier League and the FA Cup,” coach Pep Guardiola announced before the game. The Skyblues have the title defense in the league back in their own hands after Arsenal FC failed again on Friday (3-3 against FC Southampton). Although they are five points behind the leaders, City still have two games to play.

In the semi-finals of the premier class, the Bayern conqueror will meet defending champions Real Madrid on May 9th and 17th.
