Maria KeaneThe English football player Marcus Rashford has been honored by Prince William with the MBE medal as a member of the British Order of Knights.
The 24-year-old received the award on Tuesday for his campaign that supports disadvantaged children in the Corona crisis and enables them to have regular lunch. As part of the award, he promised to continue his commitment.
“I want to give the kids what I didn’t have in my own childhood,” said Rashford. “They deserve their chance, which kid doesn’t deserve it? It’s a punishment not to have meals or books.” It is not the first time that the Manchester United striker has been honored for his social commitment. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Manchester in July 2020.
