Newcastle United probably with an "astronomical offer" for Ousmane Dembele from FC Barcelona

The newly rich Premier League club Newcastle United are apparently intensifying their efforts to attack FC Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele. As the Barca-affiliated Mundo Deportivo writes, the Magpies made the winger a lucrative offer. There is even talk of an “astronomical offer” for Dembele, whose contract in Barcelona expires in the summer of 2022.

According to Mundo Deportivo wanted to lure Newcastle Dembele with an annual salary of 15 million euros net and hand money in the same amount. The financially clammy Barca are threatening to lose the 2018 world champions for free.

The Catalans would like to renew with Dembele, but Mundo Deportivo wrote earlier this week that Blaugrana management had doubts about whether Dembele would stay. One is not even sure whether talks about a contract extension can take place at all.

New coach Xavi tried his hand at a charm offensive recently: Dembele has the potential to become the “best player in the world in his position,” the coach announced. Xavi called extra time with the winger “one of our priorities”.
